Karen Bowen Appointed President of Somerset ASA
We are delighted to share that Karen Bowen, one of the most respected and dedicated figures in Somerset swimming, has been officially inaugurated as President of Somerset ASA at last weekend's Somerset ASA's Annual General Meeting, held at the University of Bath.
Karen has been a driving force within Team Bath AS for many years, known for her generosity of spirit, deep knowledge of the sport, and tireless support for swimmers, coaches, and families. In 2017, her exceptional volunteer work was recognised nationally when she was named Swim England Volunteer of the Year.
Whether coordinating meets, managing entries, guiding new swim parents, or quietly supporting operations behind the scenes, Karen has been central to the inclusive, high-performing culture at Team Bath AS.
Karen’s passion for swimming is shared by her daughter, Rhiannon Bowen, a former national swimmer with Team Bath AS and now a coach at Guildford City Swimming Club — continuing the family legacy of giving back to the sport.
In her new role as President, Karen brings invaluable experience and leadership to clubs across the county. We’re incredibly proud to see her guiding the future of swimming in Somerset.
Congratulations, Karen - a truly well-earned honour!
