Para Swimming

The City of Bristol Para squad was set up in 2015, with one very clear objective ‘to make swimming accessible to anyone with a disability’

A word from Keira the Lead Coach - ‘As the Lead Para-Coach for the club I am immensely proud of all our swimmers and work closely with everyone to ensure they are working towards personal goals. My expectations for each swimmer is to achieve the best they can, whether that is overcoming individual challenges or winning gold medals.’

To become a member of our squad you need to be at least 8 years old, have a physical disability and be able to swim 25 metres in deep water both front and back. If you require support in the water you would need to bring your own carer to the session. Most importantly you need to bring a sense of adventure and be willing to have some fun. If you have a learning disability please talk to Keira to find out whether this would be the right environment for you.

We have an inclusive approach at the City of Bristol and many that have started with our Sunday Para Session have now transitioned into other squads with additional training at the club.
