FUNDRAISING AND CHARITY

The Swimming Section conducts a number of fundraising activities with the aim of helping keep squad fees as accessable as possible whilst continuing to invest and secure its future. This page covers fundraising activities and includes how you can get involved. If you have any ideas for new activities, please email [email protected]

It is free and simple to use and doesn't take long. Since we joined this service we have raised over £1400 at no cost. Please use the link above to get started today. Club members will receive an ongoing 10% discount. To do so you must add the clubs code to your account. We cannot share the code on a public website to please reach out to the club secretary or it can also be found on the close COB Parents facebook page.

Further to this, the club will also be given a 5% donation on all purchases.

I have also reached out to Swimpath as we believe they are still honoring a 10% discount for members too, using the code COB10 (this is still to be confirmed).

OPEN MEETS, RAFFLES AND OTHER ACTIVITIES

Our 4 annual Open Meets provide a great opportunity to raise funds. In addition to the meet itself, we usually run a raffle across each weekend. Other fundraising at the event may also be possible, do you have any great ideas?

If you can contibute to the raffle or have other ideas or have a skill that would assist please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator via [email protected].

We are particuarly interested in Sponsors for each Meet, for example, do you know a company who would sponsor the medals, these can cost upto £1400 per meet or possibly the top swimmer awards for a contribuion to the runnings costs? If you have a contact who could provide Open Meet Sponsorship please contact [email protected]

SPONSORSHIP

Most years, local companies with connections to the club provide support via sponsorship donations. These Sponsors are usually included on Open Meet conditions, are ackowledged via social media and links to thier websites can be found from the front page of our website. Other ideas for sponsorship include supporting overseas or UK Swim Camps, where including logos on related T-shirts, or perhaps cover the costs of one of our social events? If you have connections with a suitable company and can facilitate a discussion or have other ideas for sponsorship acitivies please contact [email protected]

We are also in the process of introducing live streaming for our Open Meets, so contact us for opportunities to advertse on the steam!

CLUB PRELOVED SHOP

On the first monday of every month the club desk can be found upstairs on the balcony at Hengrove from 5pm ish though most of the evening. The club sells replacement club hats, water bottles and also runs a pre loved swimming kit shop. Not only is the pre loved shop a sustainable solution and a chance to pick up a bargain, it also raises £100s each year towards the running of the club. If you have any swimming kit, still in a good condition that is no longer required, please consider donating it, and if you are around on a 1st monday of the month, why not pop by see if anything catches your or your swimmers eye.

ONE OFF FUNDRAISERS

We are always open to somebody running a one off fundraiser, for example we have previously raised funds through the sale of CoB bespoke Big Bobble hats and CoB branded Travel mugs. This year Marisa Taylor has produced a lovely 2025 CoB Swimming Calendar sponsored by SPS and GCG.

If you have an idea and are willing to take it forward, possibly with help, please get in touch via [email protected]. NB. Any costs or branding must be approved by the committee first, but this is a simple tried and tested process.

SOCIAL VALUE PROJECTS

Opportunities to support other community groups is something we are also keen to do where practical and of social value within the local area. In addition to the obvious, these events also provide team building opportunities and wider exposure to the club and swimming. During the recent CoB Spooktacular Open Meet at Hengrove Park the swim section joined with Lex Leisure to support those in need in our local community by collecting donations for the South & East Bristol Food Bank. We had an amazng response not just from CoB members, but also from competing clubs!

If you have any ideas and would be willing to lead an initative, please initally touch base with our Chair via [email protected]
