Flashback to Summer Nationals 2023
Whilst we are up and running in the swimming season, I thought it would be good to highlight the achievements some of our swimmers gained during the Summer. In a display of remarkable talent and dedication, a group of young swimmers recently showcased their skills at the British and English National Swimming Championships.
Aidan Orpin, participated in five events at the British Nationals, leaving his mark on the competition. He secured a silver medal in the 100m backstroke and another silver in the 200m fly. Notably, Aidan achieved personal bests in the 200m individual medley (IM), 100m fly, and 200m backstroke during the finals of all three events.
Ellie Freeze, competed in three events at the British Nationals, consistently making finals in all of them. She secured an impressive 8th place in the 200m freestyle, a 5th place finish in the 100m freestyle, and clinched a coveted bronze medal in the 50m freestyle. Her performance demonstrated her determination and commitment to excellence.
Josh Burkill, took part in two events at the British Nationals, competing in the 200m fly and the 400m individual medley (IM). In addition, he participated in five events at the English Nationals earning a bronze medal in the 200m IM and another bronze in the 100m fly - where he broke the 60-second barrier for the first time.
Tauras Januskevicius, qualified for and competed in the English Nationals for the first time. Taurus participated in two events and achieved a personal best in one of them, demonstrating both a successful qualification and progress as a swimmer.
The coaching staff and the entire swimming community extend their heartfelt congratulations to all the swimmers who participated in these prestigious events. Their dedication and hard work in making it to the national level and competing at such a high standard are a testament to their passion for the sport. The support of family, friends, and the community is behind them as they continue to pursue their dreams in the pool.
