Welcome to our Officials page! These are the people who make competition possible for everyone at Verulam swimming club!

It is so important that we have a constant volunteer intake of officials and poolside support. Without them, we are limited in what competitions and galas we can enter, and how many teams we can put forward. 

You do not need any swimming experience at all. All training will be provided. It's fabulous being poolside as your child competes, whilst making a significant contribution to the club. Not to mention meeting a wonderful group of parents going through the same experiences as you.

Officials

Competitive swimming is a sport that requires speed, precision, and strict adherence to rules. To ensure fairness in the competition, swimming officials play a critical role in enforcing regulations and overseeing the races. Their responsibilities range from starting the race to monitoring stroke techniques, ensuring that all swimmers compete under the same conditions.

Timekeepers

The role of a Time Keeper is to accurately determine the time it took each swimmer to cover the distance of the event. Final placement of the swimmers in each event is determined by their times and finish order. Therefore, precision and accuracy are important for timekeepers. You will need to become a timekeeper before you become an official.

Team Managers

Responsible for the administration and coordination of club swimmers at open meets or galas. Provide a central point of contact for the team during the event. Responsible for the safeguarding and wellbeing of athletes and staff at the event.
