| Squad Criteria This squad is usually for swimmers age 14yrs+ or with potential. Swimmers should be able to show competency and stamina in front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke and will be expected to acheive Regional or National qualifying times in this group. Working in this squad will have a huge affect on performance, technique, strength, skill & fitness. Membership of the squad is by invitation of the Head Coach only and swimmers who do not continue to meet the criteria may be moved to a different squad. |

| A-Squad Regionals Training Times
Fees Squad training fees are £100.00 per month Technique At the age of 14yrs and over, technique is very important and is the main focus to improve and become successful. Working on improving technique regularly can drastically improve your overall swimming efficiency, speed and confidence in the water. Technique in swimming is so vital to move through the water efficiently. Kit Swimmers require the following equipment:

Training Ethos Training is extremely important to a swimmers development. The swimmers ability to train well will have a direct impact on their progression. At a-squad level, swimmers need to have the right mental attitude and have to want to train to improve. Sessions will be challenging but in order for performance to increase, these sessions must be met with the right mental attitude to gain the maximum benefit. Many also form strong long term friendships within the club. Some of our older swimmers get involved in coaching themselves and can also use the club to support their GCSE Physical Education coursework. At all times the code of conduct should be followed. Racing Racing techniques will be taught as the swimmer progresses through the swim programme, the further through the program the swimmer goes the more advance the training will be to enable them to compete at regional or national level. Land Training (by invitation only) is important and swimmers should attend all sessions. These sessions are essential in assisting to increased core stability, strength exercises, improved flexibility of the body.
