Chiltern League Champions 2022

Bourne End have been crowned Chiltern League champions for 2022.  This was an amazing performance by our swimmers over the three fast and furious rounds held in February, March and April in open competition against all the main clubs in the Chiltern Region.  

Chiltern League is a local competition with 12 clubs across the Chiltern region competing against each over in 50 individual and team relay events.  A club can only enter a single swimmer or team per event each of which carries a ‘no faster than time’ meaning there is quite a level playing field in each race. This was the first time Chiltern League had been held since it had to be halted after just one round in 2020 due to the pandemic

Chiltern League is a special event for many of our swimmers.  It is one of the few occasions we compete together as a team, and because of this camaraderie between swimmers and the support they give to each other is very infectious.  At Chiltern League we see our junior swimmers gaining confidence with each round, and our experienced swimmers leading the way mentoring the next generation.

What stood out for me this year was the noise and the non-stop cheering our team delivered to whoever we had swimming, and coupled with impeccable poolside manners. And on top of that our swimming was spot on with only a very few DQ’s!  As coaches we couldn’t be prouder of you all.

Finally, I want to say a thank-you to all our coaches and officials.  They are all volunteers and give up their time to make events like this happen.  And to the parents for getting your children to the pool promptly and regularly – you see the training has paid off.
