Training Times and Information
We swim at Wycombe Leisure Centre at Handy Cross (HX), Wycombe Abbey School Sports Centre (WA) and Newlands Leisure Centre (NLC).
Wycombe Leisure Centre
At Wycombe Leisure Centre swimmers should arrive at the pool SWIM READY (wearing swimsuits under clothing) and be at the poolside 5 minutes PRIOR to the start of each training session to register and warm-up before entering the pool.
Swimmers who arrive at the poolside more than 10 minutes after the start of a session, may be excluded from swimming. This is a health and safety issue as a proper warm-up routine is required prior to the commencement of training sets.
Wycombe Abbey
These are the instructions for dropping off and picking up your swimmer for this training session:
- Drop your swimmer off at the Clarence Gate between 1840 and 1850. This entrance is a third of the way up Marlow Hill. The gate will be open, attended by one of our Coaches or Lifeguards. Drive through the gate, drop off your swimmer and then continue around the drive to exit the school grounds onto Marlow Hill a little further up. Your swimmer will be directed into the Sports Hall.
- It is essential that you drop off your swimmer between 1840 and 1850 as the gate will be closed at 1850. There will be no late entries to swim training.
- Collect your swimmer from the main car park for Wycombe Abbey at 2045. The entrance to the school’s main car park is at the bottom of Marlow Hill just after one of the mini-roundabouts. The swimmers, coaches and lifeguards will walk down from the Sports Hall to the car park together.
Newlands Leisure Centre
At Newlands Leisure Centre swimmers should arrive at the pool SWIM READY (wearing swimsuits under clothing) and be at the poolside 5 minutes PRIOR to the start of each training session to register and warm-up before entering the pool.
Please access the pool through the changing rooms. There is space for spectators on poolside should parents/carers wish to stay on site during the sessions.
Swimmers who arrive at the poolside more than 10 minutes after the start of a session, may be excluded from swimming. This is a health and safety issue as a proper warm-up routine is required prior to the commencement of training sets.
Attendance
It is important that swimmers attend regular training; specific attendance is not a condition of being a member, but swimmers cannot expect to make progress without putting in the hard work. Fitness, stamina, technique and speed all stem from being in the water regularly. Those in the competition squads should attend licenced swim meets to obtain officially recognised Swim England times.
