Ruby 'Nails it' at Milton Keynes Meet

Keiran Millard

What do you do the morning after your school leavers ball?  You get your nails done in club colours (#bourneendblue) and then head up to Milton Keynes to update your PB's at their end of season open meet of course.

End of season competitions are a great way to update your times for events you don't normally compete in - the pressure is off for qualification times so you can swim something different for a change.  Open meets are open to anyone and as an indiviual entrant there is just a simple form to fill in - no more difficult than registering for your local 10k run.  There is a list on the Swim England website and we have a list on our website for those events we target as a club.  Ouir next big club event will be BBATT in September to start the new season.

This was quite a small meet, meaning after finisihng one event, Ruby was then immediately being called for her next event.  Exhausting! Still, she dug deep and over four events she was able to achieve three PB's inlcuding a 6s improvment in the 100m BR, returning home with three golds and one silver medal.

As a licenced meet these events need officials as well as swimmers, so this was a bit of a family outing.
