Bourne End Long Course Club Championships 2024
Bourne End had a very successful weekend at our Long Course Club Championships.
Swimming alongside Wycombe District Swimming Club, we had 36 swimmers taking part over six sessions. For a number of our swimmers this was their first competition, and some of our more experienced swimmers were trying new events for the first time too.
All of our swimmers swam well, especially considering we’ve only been back to full training for a couple of weeks after the summer break. There were lots of new personal bests set as well as several swimmers achieving County consideration times across a range of events.
Deserving of a special mention are Oliver Rendall and Hollie Roberts who achieved County qualification times in 50m Butterfly and 200m Butterfly respectively, guaranteeing them their spots in these events at the ONB County Championships in 2025. And all the swimmers competing for the first time: Marnie Snowden, Florence Hawkins, Charlie Sands, Luke Snowden and Tyler Stone.
A big well done to everyone who swam! The results can be found here.
For the swimmers (and coaches!) who were there on Saturday morning, there was great excitement to meet an Olympic gold medalist, Kieran Bird, who won a gold medal in the 4 x 200m relay at Paris 2024. The swimmers got to touch, and even wear, an Olympic gold medal – not something you get to do every day!
Finally, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who gave up their time as coaches, officials, team managers and volunteers. These events couldn’t happen without you.
Officials - Ed Ayres, Dan Hawkins, Cassie Hawkins, Chris O'Connell, Tim Ayres, Helen Fisher, and Stuart Fillingham.
