Mental Health Resources

At Bellshill Sharks ASC, we recognize the profound impact that swimming can have on an individual's mental health and wellbeing, both positively and negatively. Engaging in swimming activities not only improves physical health but also enhances mood, reduces stress, and fosters a deep sense of camaraderie within our aquatic community.

However, we are also mindful of the unique challenges and stressors that swimmers may encounter. Athletes often face immense pressure to perform, cope with the demanding transition from age-group to senior-level swimming, and navigate the delicate balance between personal and professional commitments. Moreover, retirement from competitive swimming, whether planned or unexpected, can pose significant emotional and psychological challenges for swimmers.

As an organization, Bellshill Sharks ASC prioritizes the wellbeing of our swimmers, coaches, volunteers, and support staff. We understand that their mental and emotional health is paramount to their success both in and out of the pool. Therefore, we are committed to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes resilience, growth, and holistic development.

In alignment with the principles upheld by Scottish Swimming, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive support and resources to our swimming community. By creating a culture that values mental health and wellbeing, we aim to empower our swimmers to thrive both in their athletic endeavors and in their personal lives. At Bellshill Sharks ASC, we believe that by prioritizing the mental health of our swimmers, we can create a sustainable and fulfilling swimming experience for all.
