How We’d Like You to Represent the Club

✓ champion our club values: Respect, Responsibility and Passion

✓ follow Swim England’s Code of Ethics, Swim England Regulations, the Equality & Diversity Policy and Wavepower at all times

✓ understand your role description and carry it out fairly, consistently and without favour

✓ maintain high standards of conduct and appearance – you’re an ambassador for LSC

✓ communicate clearly and respectfully with swimmers, parents and other volunteers

✓ use club social media and WhatsApp groups appropriately and responsibly

✓ treat every member with kindness, dignity and respect, valuing each individual and celebrating differences

✓ help create and sustain a welcoming, positive, safe club culture

 

 

Supporting Our Swimmers

✓ encourage swimmers to take responsibility for their behaviour, progress and sportsmanship

✓ promote the spirit of fair play and always uphold the rules of the sport

✓ challenge negative, bullying or discriminatory behaviour, and seek guidance from the Welfare Officer where needed

✓ treat sensitive information confidentiality and share only on a strict need-to-know basis

✓ follow all child safeguarding procedures and refer concerns immediately through Wavepower channels

✓ ensure children are safe, supervised and supported in training and at competitions

✓ never condone or encourage rule-breaking, doping, inappropriate language, aggression or disrespect

✓ respect the decisions of officials at competitions and raise queries in the proper manner

✓ treat all other clubs, coaches and competitors with courtesy, whether we win or lose

✓ absolutely refrain from alcohol or smoking during any club activity, event or trip

✓ ensure equipment is used safely and appropriately

 

 

Keeping Your Practice Strong

✓ keep your qualifications, CPD and required safeguarding training up to date

✓ complete Swim England safeguarding training every three years (where required)

✓ maintain a valid DBS check (renewable every three years, where required)

✓ know who the Welfare Officer is and how to contact them

✓ follow pool-hire conditions, club policies and health-and-safety rules

✓ act promptly and correctly if a child is injured or becomes unwell

✓ support the club in meeting Swim England’s minimum affiliation standards

 

 

Your Rights as a Volunteer

You have the right to:

✓ feel welcomed, appreciated and supported in your role

✓ be treated fairly, with respect and without discrimination

✓ be listened to and have a say in club decisions

✓ access training and development relevant to your role

✓ know and use the correct safeguarding and reporting procedures

✓ feel confident about the club’s complaints process

✓ be protected from physical or emotional abuse from swimmers or parents

 

We want your experience with LSC to be positive, rewarding and enjoyable.

 

 

When Things Go Wrong

If a committee member, volunteer or official behaves in a way that contradicts this Code, we’ll address it promptly and work together to resolve it.

Persistent or serious breaches may result in disciplinary action under Swim England judicial regulations, and criminal matters will be reported to the police where required.
