County Squad   

 

COACH/SWIMMER RATIO: 1:30

Minimum Age: 9 Maximum Age: 14 ​

MINIMUM CRITERIA

  • Attend 4 training sessions a week regularly, school swimming can be taken into consideration.
  • Complete 10 x 100m FS off 2.00, 10 x 100 IM off 2.15, 20 x 50m FS off 55.00
  • Swimmers should be competing at Surrey County Championships in 2 events or within 3% of Surrey QTs in following:
  • 1 x Distance Freestyle Boys 1500m/400m/200m, Girls 800m/400m/200m
  • 1 x Individual medley and/or,
  • 1 x 200m Form Stroke
  • Swimmers to compete at targeted meets specified by coach and all Arena league galas where selected.

 

OBJECTIVES

  • Develop and improve stroke technique on all four strokes, learn more complex stroke drill progressions for all the four strokes
  • Develop starts, turns and finishes on all four strokes and IM turns
  • Develop competitive relay takeovers
  • Independently monitor training by using a pace clock.
  • Learn and understand competitive swimming rules.
  • Learn and practice basic stretching and core body strength work.
  • Participate in regional/county galas and club galas, performing a variety of strokes and distances
  • Take responsibility for training equipment required at each training session (kick board, pull buoy, drink bottle, fins, goggles etc).

 

Disabled swimmers eligible for IPC Classification will be assessed in line with LTAD and coach discretion - where appropriate guidance from the London Regional Disability Coach will be sought.

All squad selections and criteria are at the discretion of the coaching team and are made in line with Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD). Swimmers who are dissatisfied with their squad selection will need to make an appointment with the Head Coach and Welfare Officer/Secretary to discuss the reasoning. Swimmers below the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
