PRE-SQUAD PLUS CRITERIA
COACH/SWIMMER RATIO 1:15
Minimum Age: 7 Maximum Age: 11
MINIMUM ENTRY CRITERIA
- Attend 2 training session regularly
- Correct stroke technique for front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and fly
- Able to perform tumble turns on front and back stroke with confidence
- Able to finish BC, BRS and Butterfly correct and with confidence
- Able to swim 50m continuously with correct turns and finishes
OBJECTIVES
Swimmers will be able to have the basics of good stroke technique on three strokes (apart from Butterfly) and
complete the following:

Stroke technique work using drills on all 4 strokes FC, BC, BRS and FLY

Understanding of Basic Coaching language: Kick, pull, drill, set swim, IM swim, streamlining TT, racing dives

Use pace clock

Using lane discipline and etiquette (overtaking, clockwise, anticlockwise)
Progression to Next squad
Based on attendance, performance, ability to listen and follow (take on board) instructions, positive attitude and mindset and must be willing to take part in competitions.
As all children develop at different rates every moves is on individual basis and in best interest of the swimmer.
Disabled swimmers eligible for IPC Classification will be assessed in line with LTAD and coach discretion - where appropriate guidance from the London Regional Disability Coach will be sought.
All squad selections and criteria are at the discretion of the coaching team and are made in line with Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD). Swimmers who are dissatisfied with their squad selection will need to make an appointment with the Head Coach and Welfare Officer/Secretary to discuss the reasoning. Swimmers below the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
