Watford Ocean Warriors Swim to France

They made it! On Monday the 2nd October 2023, Team WOW swam the channel in a time of 9:40:29.

All the hard training paid off for our six open water hero’s.

Will Harris, Sam Trigwell, Megan Reader, Prisha Tapre, Felipe Irvine, Barney O’Donnell.

The astonishing time was achieved by their consistently fast swimming and the skill of Andy King, who piloted our escort boat Louise Jane 2.

The weather forced us to go on a large spring tide but everything went to plan, and we finished precisely on Cap Gris Nez.

Massive thanks to Paul Meyler for his photography and comms skills and Lorraine Reader for all her help before and on the boat.

But mostly to the parents with their creative hive mind, making us one big wonderful WOW family.

We have raised over £11,400 in aid of Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care.

It wasn't easy, but we’ve had the best time, made strong bonds and fantastic memories.
