Safeguarding & Welfare at Team Waveney

Everyone at Team Waveney is proud to share Swim England's commitment and value to create a culture in sports and activities which makes everyone feel protected, included and welcomed.

We believe the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all participants is paramount and therefore is embedded in everything we do throughout Team Waveney.

Wavepower

Team Waveney Swimming Club is proud to adopt Swim England s safeguarding policy and procedures document, Wavepower.

Wavepower is Swim England's safeguarding policy and procedures document.

Its aim is to ensure everyone can enjoy sports and aquatic activities in a safe, positive and enjoyable environment in line with current legislation, regulations and guidance.

All Swim England affiliated clubs and organisations must adopt Wavepower, and the current version can be downloaded below.

Wavepower consistently emphasises the responsibility for child safeguarding in our sport belongs to all those involved and is not the sole responsibility of any one person at local, county or national level.

Safeguarding is everyone's business

It is important to raise all safeguarding concerns to our Club Welfare Officer who will be happy to help deal with them appropriately.

If you have any questions, worries or concerns, please contact

Coaching Consultation Form

The Coaching Consultation Form has been written by Swim England following a number of enquiries from parents, carers, and coaches as to the best way to support swimmers with autism within the club environment. Whilst created with autism in mind, it has been designed to help shape conversations with new and existing members where any additional support may be required.

Please do not worry if our Welfare Officer reaches out to you to complete a form.

Photography: Respecting Privacy

Team Waveney may wish to take photographs or film individual and groups of members under the age of 18 that may include your child during their membership. All photographs and filming and all use of images will be in accordance with the Swim England Photography and Filming Guidance and the clubs Privacy Policy.

The club requires consent to take and use photographs. Parents/Guardians have a right to refuse agreement to their child being photographed. As the parent/guardian please indicate your permission to the possible uses as listed below (if you only agree to a subset of the uses below then please leave the box unchecked and email [email protected] with the specific uses you do consent to).

Please note you can withdraw your consent at any time should you wish to do so. This must be done in writing to the club Welfare Officer.

  1. My child s photograph to be used on club (secure) website
  2. My child s photograph to be used on club social media platform/s
  3. Photos to be included in newspaper articles
  4. Photos taken by professional photographer at events
  5. Filming for training purposes (NB these will be only stored within the OnDeck platform on swimmer's personal profiles)

Changing Rooms / Villages

Team Waveney would like to remind all members that we share our facilities changing villages with the public. Additionally, the public has access to the spa areas and, at Waterlane, the learner pool both of which are accessible via the main pool decks.

As a result, there is the potential for our swimmers to interact with members of the public. Please also note that the changing rooms at all our current venues are mixed-gender, and the pool provider does not have segregation measures in place.

Rest assured that our coaching team and team managers remain vigilant on the pool deck whenever there is a possibility of interaction between our swimmers and the public.

Once a training session is complete and a swimmer has left poolside, they become the responsibility of their parent/guardian.

We kindly ask for your understanding in this matter and be present within the building at the end of a session and not waiting in the car outside, especially if your swimmer is 12 years or under.

Parents should also ensure they are not alone in changing room areas, unless with their own children who are of an age where they require any assistance.

Masters swimmers we recommend, where possible use a separate area.

It is important we also remember to always be respectful and courteous. This is part of our Code of Conduct and behaviour contract. As representatives of our club, our behaviour at all times reflects on the entire team.

Keep it in Your Locker

Mobile devices have become an everyday part of life. They have evolved in such a way that a vast majority of our day-to-day activities rely on them. However, that does not mean they should be used in all settings and environments. There is a time and place for mobiles, we believe together with Swim England a swimming pool changing room is not one of them.
