Our volunteers make a big difference

HSC is a volunteer led club and without the generosity of our volunteers the club would not be able to function.

We strongly encourage involvement within our club community and welcome new volunteers, encouraging them to develop within a friendly and supportive environment.

HSC working group

Our working group helps to carry out activity essential to the running of the Club, spreading the workload evenly and most importantly thinly!

Unlike Committee, who meets regularly, the Working Group get together termly, at the most convenient time for the majority, the expectation is that there would be more communication via email than anything else as and when required.

Some essential work that the working group gets involved in are things such as the coordination of volunteers and training, training camps, team events (Arena and Herts Major etc.) and Social Events to name but a few (please see support roles below for full list).

We are inviting people to come forward from ALL SQUADS. It is essential that we have people involved from younger age groups within the Club to ensure longevity and continuity as well as those who have experienced the club for years!

We are not asking for any experience and there is not an expectation of decision making within the group, just that you can give us a couple of hours of your time.

Officials

Each time Hitchin Swimming Club enters an Open Meet, the club is required to supply a number of officials.  Providing officials is a condition of entry so, without them our swimmers would not be able to compete.
Throughout the year there is an opportunity to attend training to become an Official. The following opportunities are open as a progressional route for those who wish to pursue it through HSC:

Timekeeper Judge Level 1 Judge Level 2 Starter Referee

Can you coach or would you like to help at squad/practice sessions?

Many of our coaching staff are volunteers. Without them, it would be impossible to keep the running costs of the club at thier current levels. If you have an interest in swimming and would like to gain qualifications in coaching or swimming instruction, HSC will consider supporting you through your training.
