Ojays win the Ojays v Tonbridge Dual Gala

- Admin

Orpington Ojays V Tonbridge SC Dual Friday 10th March.

It was a victory for our team of fifty-five swimmers who were selected to compete against Tonbridge SC for the inaugural Dual, a head-to-head gala between the two clubs.

Tonbridge played hosts at their home pool, and it proved to be a fantastic night of fast and furious racing from both teams. There were individual wins to Lucas, Ellie L, Maria, James, Ellie G, Philip, Shekinah, Samantha, Vats, and Emily. Tonbridge’s relay teams were strong and the secured the win in all relay events, but we were consistent and swept up points in second and third places.

The 12 x 25m squadron relays at the end were very tactical and although Tonbridge took an early lead with teams in first and second position, we swam hard to come back at them. They managed to pinch the win but again we took more points with teams finishing in second and third place. Our consistency paid off and the final score was 197 -168 a conclusive victory to us.

A big thank you to our team mangers Chris, Erica, Jo, Mel, Ryan, Sheeren and Cat who worked tirelessly to get all the swimmers up to their events, no mean feat with up to 48 swimmers heading up to race at some points. Thank you to our officials Mark, Sophie, Caroline, Kate, Tim, Rob, Rachel, Andre, Darren, & Andy, and to Paul for his help with all the event timings. And finally thank you to the coaches Joe, Sam and Kirsten.

A huge congratulations to all the swimmers that took part!!

If you were on the team and would like a photo of yourself holding the trophy, it will be at the Walnuts from 6:00pm on Monday 20th May, the day of the Club Championship 400 IM. Photos can then be taken during the evening.
