Learn To Swim

Orpington Ojays entry level learn to swim classes follows the Swim England Learn to Swim Stages 1-5. Led by experienced Level 2 coach swim teachers who are also former exerienced competitive swimmers and understand the journey from the early stages to elite levels of swimming. Being affiliated to the swimming club, we offer a pathway into competitive swimming and a continuation for those who love swimming and want the possibility of going further than just learning the basics.

  • The Learn to Swim Stage  Awards are divided into progressive stages. They make up the core, national syllabus of learning to swim for primary school aged children
  • They are designed to reward your child for their development of the essential aquatic skills they need to be confident, competent and safe in the water
  • Each of the Learn to Swim Stage Awards has a list of clear outcomes that need to be completed in order to gain each Award

Entry to our Learn to Swim school is for children age 4-9 with the criteria that children must be at least reception age. The entry level is a non-swimmer class at 9am, generally targetted at reception age children and children progress from there at later classes as they improve.

Those in learn to swim will go on to join the Tadpoles squads to complete the Swim England Stages where strokes will be refined and racing is introduced with the opportunity to take part in fun galas and club league events swimming against other swimming clubs.

Lessons are held in small ability-based groups at Warren Road Pool, 30 minute sessions

Saturday from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm and Tuesday 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm
