Kent Junior League Final Round

On Saturday 21st September our team of thirty-two swimmers headed to the Kent coast and Dover for the final round of this year’s league. We welcomed some new swimmers to the team for the final round and a great night of racing was had by all. Notable mentions go to Ellie Gibbs (12U 100m backstroke), Ben Farthing (13U 100m freestyle), Lisa Poliatykina (10U 50m backstroke), Lucas Bond (13U 100m butterfly & 100m breaststroke), and our 13U medley and freestyle relay teams of Alex, Ben, Lucas and Jacob who all won their events. We finished the night in fifth place and the league in twelfth out of a total of twenty teams. Well done to all the swimmers who took part over the three rounds.

Kent County Relay Championships

The Kent Relay Championships returned for the first time since 2020 on Sunday 29th September. Forty-two swimmers were selected to represent the club at the county event held at Glass Mills Leisure Centre Lewisham. The girls were up first in the morning, where our teams put in strong performances across all the age groups with teams in either A or B finals in all age groups. Our open age girls of Daisy, Lauren, Pheobe and Tania had a fantastic meet winning silver medals in the 4x50m freestyle, and Ellie L, Lauren, Pheobe and Tania won bronze in the 4x50m medley relay.

The afternoon was the turn of the boys, where once again we had very strong performances with all teams making finals. Our 14U boys 4x50m freestyle team of Ben, Fotios, Lucas and Shekinah had a fantastic afternoon winning silver medals in a fast and furious event. We finished sixth overall ahead of many of our main rivals.  What a way to round off Joe’s final competition with the club as head coach.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped out at the event, not just our wonderful team managers and officials, but to all the parents who helped the county by marshalling swimmers, handing out refreshments and doing the spectator entry, without your help events like these just wouldn’t be possible.
