KWSS Last Chance County Qualifier

The was no real rest over the Christmas period for the sixty swimmers that competed at the KWSS meet last weekend at Medway Park Leisure Centre Gillingham, as they tried to secure last-minute qualifying times for the 2025 Kent County Championships which start on the 11th January.

There was lots of fabulous swimming over the weekend with plenty of county consideration times achieved, and we are delighted to see some new swimmers’ names have been added to our county qualifiers list. The team came away with fourteen gold medals won by Daisy, Donir, Ellie, Fotios, Hana, Lucas, Maria, Miranda, Philip and Shekinah, fifteen silver medals and ten bronze medals.

The competition was fierce with some of the biggest clubs in Kent attending the meet. The age groups were very tough as well 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, and 16+ with age as of 31st December 2025. In some cases, swimmers were essentially swimming up an age group having only just had a birthday in December 2024. Well done to all the swimmers and a big thank you to our officials and team managers who volunteered across the weekend. The wait in now on for the thirty-six swimmers who have had entries submitted for the County Championships to see if they are accepted.

Walnuts Closure

At the weekend, we said a heartfelt goodbye to our beloved 33-meter home pool at The Walnuts, which has been our home for the past fifty years. Our final training sessions took place on Sunday, featuring our Tadpoles swimmers, who represent the future of our club, and our Masters swimmers, some of whom have been with the club for their entire swimming journey. Work has already started and we eagerly anticipate returning in 2026 to the brand-new 25-meter pool, complete with state-of-the-art equipment, which promises to be a tremendous asset for our club and its members—and the envy of other local clubs.
