Ojays and Tonbridge Dual

On Friday 6th June, a team of 60 swimmers travelled to Tonbridge Leisure Centre for our much-anticipated annual head-to-head meet against Tonbridge Swimming Club.

The competition was fierce throughout the night, with both teams giving it their all in every event. Despite the outstanding effort shown by our swimmers, Tonbridge proved the stronger side this year and came away with the win.

Well done to everyone who took part, your commitment and team spirit made us proud. A big thank you to the army of volunteers who came and help, we really couldn’t do this without your support. We’ll be back next year, ready for the challenge!

Kent Junior League Round Two

On Saturday 21st June, a team of our younger swimmers travelled to Glass Mill Leisure Centre in Lewisham to compete in the second round of the league. The atmosphere was electric and the competition fierce, with some of the bigger clubs in the county at the round.

There were some standout performances on the night, including Donir’s double win in the Boys 10U 50m Breaststroke and 50m Backstroke, and Lisa’s victory in the Girls 11U 50m Freestyle. The Girls 11U Freestyle Relay team of Hayley, Joelliane, Lisa, and Prisha put in a fantastic effort to secure a win, as did the Boys 10U Medley Relay team of Alec, Caelan, Donir, and Nathan.

Our team finished in the evening in 7th place. The results from all the individual galas were compiled into a single virtual gala, and we are currently sitting 12th out of 20 teams overall.

Well done to all our swimmers for their hard work and dedication. The final round takes place on Saturday 20th September at Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre.

Bexley Summer Sizzler

Over the weekend of 12th & 13th July, 65 of our swimmers took to the pool at Crook Log Leisure Centre for the Summer Splash, and what a fantastic weekend it was!

For some swimmers, it was their very first taste of competition; for others, it marked the perfect end to a successful season. The team brought home a brilliant medal haul: 26 golds, 34 silvers, and 30 bronzes.

Special congratulations to our gold medallists: Andrew, Ava, Ben, Caelan, Ciar, Ellie, Emily C, Faith, Hana, Lucas, and Tioma. A special mention must go to Ellie for her standout performance, achieving a clean sweep of six golds from six races -  an incredible achievement!

There were countless personal bests across the weekend, with many swimmers smashing their previous times. Several also achieved County Consideration Times, a great sign of progress and potential as we look ahead to the next season.

Of course, for many swimmers the most prized reward wasn’t a medal or a PB, it was the much-converted heat winner ducks. And we’re proud to say we collected plenty of those too!

A huge well done to all our swimmers, and a heartfelt thank you to our amazing team of volunteer team managers and officials, who braved the sweltering poolside conditions to support the team and help make the weekend such a success.
