Another Fantastic Weekend for Ojays
It was a busy, and brilliant weekend for our squad swimmers, with action across two competitions and our camp swimmers returning from a sunny week in Malaga. The hard work, energy, and team spirit were on full display.
Fireworks Meet
Forty-five swimmers headed to Crook Log Leisure Centre for the EDSC & Dartford Fireworks Meet, and carrying on from last weekend they lit up the pool once again.
There were county consideration times, countless personal bests, and a sparkling medal haul:
25 Golds — congratulations to Lucas, Alice Ca, James, Nathan, Alice Cr, Simon, Caelan, Joelliane, Cari, and Hayley.
31 Silvers and 15 Bronzes rounded off a spectacular team effort.
London Winter Championships
Eight swimmers qualified for this year’s London Winter Championships, competing across 20 events in the fiercely competitive 16&Under and 17+ age groups.
Despite some swimmers returning fresh (or not so fresh!) from a tough week of camp training, they gave it everything. Huge congratulations to Fin, Ellie, Lucas, Aaron, Andrew, Maria, Fotios, and Olivia for earning their places.
Special mention to Olivia, who made two B Finals in the 100m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke, finishing 18th and 16th respectively — a brilliant achievement.
Malaga Camp 2025
Meanwhile in sunny Spain, 20 swimmers and 3 adults (Joe, Simon, and Sue) took part in our biennial training camp, a week packed with focus, fun, and friendship.
With 12 pool sessions (indoor and outdoor), land training, and plenty of team bonding, everyone worked hard and played harder. There were some very early starts and long days in the pool, but the effort and attitude were outstanding throughout. Highlights included a competitive round of crazy golf and a splash-tastic trip to the water park.
It truly was another weekend to remember for Ojays, medals, milestones, and memories made. The team’s energy and commitment are clear to see, and with a packed competition calendar this month, it’s all about building on this success. Let’s keep training hard, stay focused, and carry this momentum forward into the next competition.
