Do you offer a free taster session?

The taster session will be your trial session.  This will take part during our normal training session on a Friday, where you will not only be assessed by our coaches, but you will be able to take part in all the activities that take part on that night.

Do I need to book?

Yes, you need to arrange for a trial session with the membership secretary – please email on [email protected].

Is there a waiting list?

At the moment, there is no waiting list, but this could change.  The membership secretary will be able to advise on the current status upon enquiry.

Do you take beginners?

Unfortunately, no.  Oldham Seals is a competitive swimming club and is the next step in the swimming journey after attending lessons.  However, if you are not quite ready to join the club full-time (determained at trial), you may have the option to join our Junior Club Swimmers (Seals Pups).  For more information, please email / contact the membership secretary on [email protected].

What should I wear?

You should come to the session and wear a swimming costumer/trunks whilest in the pool.  Please also bring a swim hat (if you have one), goggles and full water bottle, and only if you have them, kickboard, pull buoy and fins.

How much does it cost?

Please contact the membership secretary on [email protected] for further details.

I’m a disabled person, can I take part?

Yes - swimming is accessible to everyone, and whilst we will try to accommodate everyone, the joining criteria will still need to be met. To discuss your specific requirements/needs, please contact the membership secretary on [email protected] or the head coach on [email protected].

Can I bring someone to watch / wait for me?

Yes.  We would prefer a parent/guardian to be present, especially at the trial session, so that we can have a chat after the session ends.

Do you have parking?

Yes.  There is parking at the leisure centre.

What will be first session be like?

The first session will be your trial session.  Once you have joined Oldham Seals ASC, you will be placed in a squad which will have other swimmers of the same ability.  Although we are a competitive swimming club and work hard during our sessions, we still aim to have fun and encourage a family feeling.
