Cover Coach Vacancy (Level 2)

Norwich Swan Swimming Club are looking for a Level 2 part time coach to join our existing experienced coaching team.  

We are a vibrant and fast growing competitive club consistently producing County, Regional & National level medallists.  Our team finished second in the East Midlands Arena League Division 1 and qualified for the B final in Cardiff in March 2025. 

We have nearly 600 swimmers in squads, and a thriving Learn to Swim programme. We pride ourselves on excellent links with other clubs in Norfolk and the surrounding areas.

Norwich Swan has an inclusive approach to swimming and our ethos is to be a friendly club with a passion for helping every swimmer to achieve their full potential whatever that may look like. 

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate:  We are looking for a team player with enthusiasm and excellent interpersonal skills who can build a good rapport with the Swimmers, able and willing to step in at short notice to deliver a high quality session. This role may suit a uni student who has their own transport or someone looking to return to coaching or to supplement other work.

We can provide mentoring and development opportunities for the right candidate, your personal qualities, commitment and desire to learn are the most important attributes.  We are looking for someone who is passionate about swimming, open to change and willing to try new approaches to develop their coaching skills. You should also be a self starter who is capable of working independently. Former competitive swimming experience would be an advantage.

You will have opportunities to coach our squads at pools in and around Norwich 

  • Swim England Swimming Coach Level 2 Coaching Swimming or equivalent qualification

  • Locations at pools in Norwich including Langley prep at Taverham, Town Close Prep, Thorpe High, Norwich High School for Girls and Hewett Academy.

  • Zero hours but with coaching timetables published 4 weeks in advance and an opportunity to pick up hours on weekday evenings but mostly Friday evenings and at the weekends.

  • Pay rate: £18.50/hr for Level 2 coach on a self employed basis, with a permit to work in the UK.

  • Applicants are expected to have a current Rescue Test (or NPLQ) qualification, a Swim England Safeguarding In Aquatics certificate and will be subject to a DBS check.

  • Excellent communication skills are needed as you will be covering sessions for other members of the coaching team.
