North West Micro League Grand Final 2017

In one of the most exciting galas of the year, The North West Micro League Division A Grand Final took place at Blackpool, on Saturday 9th September 2017. Swimming where the top four teams in the League Southport, Preston, Leyland and Wigan. The winner would represent the League in the North of England, Junior League Final in Tynemouth on Sunday 1st October. The prize was was high ! Southport where the champions and had only lost this gala once in 13 years. It didnt go all Southports way and after 12 races mainly team races, they were 3 points behind Preston. A group of good indivdual swims by the Southport swimmers pushed them in front at half way by 10 points. As the indivduals continued Southport went from strength to strength and extended there lead. Leyland had a strong finish nudging in front of Preston. At the conclusion Southport retained their record in the Grand Final
