Southport Swimming Club Masters Will Rothwell won 3 Silver medals in the Transplant Games in Leeds this weekend, 50m Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle. Great result! Well done Will!
Southport Swimming Club want to congratulate their home-grown swimmer Holly Hibbott, who has been selected to compete in this year's Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Make sure you watch and cheer her on in the women's 200m butterfly. Also competing at the commonwealth games is Lewis Burras who has been a long-term member of Southport Swimming Club in his age group and youth years, before going to train in the USA. A massive congratulations to our four swimmers who qualfied and competed at the British Summer Championships in Sheffield. Henry Maw swam in the 18 Years 400m Freestyle, 100m and 200m Butterfly. Henry made the finals in both the 400m Freestyle and 200m Butterfly placing 10th and 6th. Fraser Cooke swam in the 18 Years 200m Breaststroke. Southport Swimming Club had some fantastic success at the recent British Masters Championships in Aberdeen. Throughout the weekend, held at Aberdeen Sports Village, newcomer to SSC Masters Swimming, Jacob Lea, won GOLD in the 50m Butterfly, GOLD 100m Butterfly, SILVER 100m Freestyle and BRONZE 50m Freestyle. Fantastic results! Also competing from SSC Masters was Helen Jenkins who won GOLD 50m Butterfly plus a GOLD and 2x SILVERS in the Backstroke events. Another fantastic result! Congratulations to all our Primary School Children who graduated at Edge Hill University this week through the Children’s University. We are proud to be a Learning Destination so children can collect points for attending Southport Swimming Club. Shout out to Harrison who graduated with a Doctorate Gold Fellowship as well as an award for the highest points across Sefton.
Congratulations to Evie Sampson who is our Swimmer of the Month! After winning Gold at the North West Regionals for 200m Butterfly, she is now the second fastest 12 year old girl Nationally! Well done Evie!
