12th Year in a Row for the Juniors at Echo Cup Final 2015
Last Sunday 15th October 2015 The Clubs Junior (9-12yrs) retained the Echo Cup for a resounding 12th year in succession. In the final was the other top seven teams from the Wirral, Cheshire, West Lancs and Mersyside. The Echo cup is the nosiest event of the year with a full capacity of around 500 spectators and and over 250 swimmers crammed into Everton Park Sports Centre.. Southport dominated the gala from the first race to the last. The first eight races being relay events, the clubs swimmers gained first place in six and second in two of the eight.
The Southport swimmers continued to impress throughout in the thirty two individual races. With 13 first places and 9 second places. In the final 9 relays, at the conclusion of the gala the clubs swimmers won all but one relay where they gained second place. The galas cannon race at the end again saw Southport retain the Cannon Trophy gaining first place
As the final points were read out it was a resounding victory yet again for Southport Swimming Club in retaining the Echo Cup for the last 12 years, by 71 points over the nearest rivals Everton
