Meet the LSC Committee

What is the Committee?

Leatherhead Swimming Club is a ‘members club’, which means it is run by and on behalf of all the members of the club. It is managed by the Committee, an elected body which manages and organises the day-to-day running of the club in accordance with the club rules and in partnership with the Head Coach, the development of the club’s long terms aims and objectives.

The Committee meets approximately every 6 weeks to discuss matters relating to the club and take decisions on behalf of the membership. The Head Coach, Membership Secretary, Welfare Officer and the Accounts and Finance Officer also attend Committee meetings.

Who is on the Committee?

At LSC the Committee is made up of the Chairperson, Club Secretary and a Club Treasurer, who together form the ‘Executive Committee’, plus up to 4 other Committee members. The Committee are nominated and elected at the Annual General Meeting (held in the autumn term) for a period of 2 years.

Members of the Committee are all unpaid volunteers, usually parents of swimmers, who want to ensure all members receive the best possible experience while at LSC.

The Committee are supported by various sub-committees such as the Gala Committee and the Social Committee who oversee specific activities for the club, and a huge number of parent volunteers who undertake a variety of roles to support the smooth running of the club.

You can find out more about the role of the Committee members and how to get involved below...

As a family we have been with LSC for the last seven years, Rafi currently swimming in National Squad, with Elsa and Joe previously swimming in the National Squad before leaving for university, and my wife Chooi swimming with the Masters. I had a trial with the Masters but didn’t meet the required standard so now swimming three times a week at the LLC public sessions in a bid to get better!

I’ve been on the LSC Committee for the last 5 years, initially as a Member and for the last 3 years as Treasurer. I’m also a qualified “Judge 1” so enjoy helping out at the various internal and external galas. As a family we’ve loved being part of LSC, I’ve seen at first-hand the benefits it has brought to our three children and I feel proud to be part of an extensive voluntary team that helps LSC members develop respect, responsibility and a passion for the sport which can last a lifetime.

My swimmers Seth & Isla joined LSC in 2020. They both started the performance pathway in the Swim Academy, moving on to their respective squads under the guidance of their wonderful and experienced coaches.

A former classical ballet dancer, I am a qualified teacher sports and PE with QTS. I am a Swim England J2S Starter and a Referee. I also have a NRASTC certification. I enjoy volunteering on the pool deck as an official at the array of galas on offer throughout the year providing opportunities for our swimmers to be the best they can be.

My kids, Tom and Anna, joined LSC in 2012. They are both at Uni now but Anna is still swimming so you may still see her around at training in the holidays and at meets. I have been lucky enough to get involved with lots of aspects of the club: on the Committee; as Treasurer; part of the gala and club champs organising team; getting involved with socials and cake sales!! I have got to know a lot of lovely people over the years.

Current roles: you will have seen many emails from "accounts" - that is me! I do the club's billing, ASA registration, make payments for the club and help with the admin. I also support the Treasurer in preparing the accounts and budgets and any ad hoc financial information needed to ensure the smooth running of the club.

I think this is a very special club - made so by the people: coaches, parents and swimmers all. The club has grown a lot over the last 10 years but, to my delight, it has kept its vibe of a friendly place where people are happy to help.
