Pool Safety
It is important that all swimmers understand the rules whilst at the pools. Swimmers should behave whilst around the pool and in the facility.
Entering/leaving the facility;
- Swimmers should conduct themselves in a manner that is safe and does not cause risk to themselves or any other club member
- Swimmers should conduct their behaviour in a way that does not bring the club into disrepute
- Swimmers should not run or lark around in the changing rooms
- Swimmers should ensure that they leave all venues in a tidy and clean state
- Swimmers should follow all the rules of the venue staff and Coaching staff
- Swimmers should not run
- Swimmers should not push
- Swimmers should only enter the water when instructed by Coach or lifeguard
- Swimmers should only dive when instructed and supervised by a poolside Coach
- Swimmers must perform all dives as a shallow racing dive with arms extended above their head
- Swimmers should place all kit bags in a safe place that will not cause a trip hazard
In training; Swimmers should ensure that their behaviour is suitable for training sessions
- Swimmers should ensure that they are listening to all instructions from Coaches and poolside staff
- Swimmers should ensure that they leave a 5 sec gap between swimmers as a minimum, unless instructed differently by Coach or poolside staff
- Swimmers should swim clockwise or anti-clockwise as instructed by the Coaching or poolside staff
- Swimmers should only perform the skills instructed by Coaches and poolside staff
- Swimmers should only dive when instructed and supervised by a poolside Coach
- Swimmers must perform all dives as a shallow racing dive with arms extended above their head
- Swimmers should over-take other swimmers in a safe action as instructed by the Coaching and poolside staff
- Swimmers should exit the water immediately if instructed by Coach or poolside staff
Swimmers must not perform any action, in or out of the pool, that puts them or other club members in harms way.
Swimmers that break these rules will be removed from the session and may be excluded from multiple sessions. In extreme cases the club may make the decision to terminate the swimmers club membership.
The club has a great team of swimmers, coaches and volunteers and I hope that we can all work together to ensure that training and competitions are carried out in a safe environment for all.
