Amy Davies was selected to swim in the London Team from the 22-24 February at the McCuallagh International Meet, Bangor, Northern Ireland. Amy was swimming most of the freestyle events and relays and made the finals in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle and helped the London Ladies make it a clean sweep of the relays ! Well done Amy and Team London!
The 2019 Surrey County Swimming Championships got underway over the past weekend with the first of 6 galas taking place at the Surrey Sports Park Guildford. A total of 37 swimmers from South Croydon Swimming Club have qualified and entered the championships and the first weekend of competition saw 14 of them take to the pool. I was selected for the freestyle Swim England Talent camp at Millfield School just before Christmas with 45 other English 15/16 year old swimmers. We were split into groups, I was put into the 200 freestyle group with 2 other girls and 3 boys. The camp was a very busy four days, with 2 x 2hr swim sessions a day. SCSC enjoyed a hugely memorable, enjoyable, special and successful evening on Saturday.1st December at the club's 10th Year Anniversary celebrations at Warlingham Rugby Club. Early December saw the final set of galas in the National Arena Swimming League season, with South Croydon Swimming Club triumphant in their match held at the Pavilions in the Park pool in Horsham. Swim Serpentine this year was not blessed with good weather and the rain did set in around mid-day. This did not deter the Corby family who were set to complete the 2 mile swim (Ella, Richard and Anna) Richard was set on receiving a coveted London 'Classic' Medal for completing the London Marathon (4 times) London Prudential 100 mile Bike Ride and the 2 mile Swim Serpentine. SCSC's Amy Davies qualified for the 16 years age group at the British Swimming Summer Championships in the 50 (16th) 100 (11th), 200 (7th), 400 (6th) and 800 (13th) freestyle as well as the 200 IM (22nd). Amy began the week by swimming to a brilliant 7th place finish in the final of the 200 freestyle in a 2.05:80 just marginally outside her PB.
