Swim England Wavepower
Terms of Reference
This Code of Ethics applies to all individuals involved in the sports of swimming, diving, water polo, open water swimming, and artistic swimming.
It should be read alongside the Codes of Conduct found in Swim England’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Procedures (Wavepower).
Code of Ethics
- Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of every individual, treating everyone equally within the context of the sport.
- Respect the spirit of the sport, adhering to its rules and laws in and out of the pool, including friendship and mutual respect.
- Promote the positive aspects of the sport and never condone abusive language, inappropriate relationships, bullying, harassment, discrimination, or physical violence.
- Accept responsibility for personal behaviour and encourage Swim England members and parents of junior members to do the same.
- Ensure that all child safeguarding concerns are referred in line with Wavepower.
- Conduct oneself in a manner that takes reasonable measures to ensure the safety of oneself and others.
- Promote the reputation of the sport and avoid behaviour that may bring it into disrepute.
- Adhere to the Wavepower safeguarding policy.
- Follow the Codes of Conduct detailed in Wavepower.
- Comply with Swim England’s Equality Policy.
- Abide by Swim England's Rules and Regulations.
- Comply with the Aquatics GB Anti-Doping Rules.
Note: The Aquatics GB Anti-Doping Rules apply to all members participating in the sport for at least 12 months from the start of their membership, in accordance with Swim England Regulations and Code of Conduct, regardless of citizenship or residency in the UK.
