Sunday 24th March 2024 saw over 300 swimmers travel to Repton from far and wide to compete in over 1200 events at our 2024 Easter Meet. Our own Repton swimmers, aged 9 to 17yrs, competed against swimmers from Nantwich, Cheadle, Loughborough, Hucknall, Chase, Halesowen, Melton Mowbray, Skegness, Derby, Mansfield, Boldmere, Burton and Dove Valley – thank you to all clubs who attended. Following being crowned as champions of the West Midlands Region in December, Repton Swimming were part of the National Arena League Cup Final in Cardiff on Sunday 3rd March. The Final encompassed the top ten clubs in the UK, including the winners and best runners up from Swim England's seven regions. The traditional short course season came to an end this December with some superb performances across the club. National Arena League Following the English Schools’ Championship success in November, on December 8th Repton Swimming took on the 7 other top clubs in the West Midlands, in the final round of the Regional stage of the National Arena League. On Saturday 18th November, 28 pupils from Repton School travelled to Sandwell Aquatics Centre, the home of the Commonwealth Games 2022, for the English Schools' Swimming Association National Team Championships. Repton were represented in 5 of the 6 categories, in both the Freestyle and Medley relays. The event consists of the top 24 schools across England in each age category, competing in 4x50m relay events. This week Holly Marshall (Wales), Laurie Devine (Scotland) and Hannah Bowley (England) will represent their countries at the Commonwealth Youth Games. The Commonwealth Youth Games are hosted every four years, across all sports and involve all countries within the Commonwealth. This year the Games will be hosted in Trinidad & Tobago, with the swimming taking place between 6th-9th August 2023. Working her way through the Swim England qualifications via her Learn 2 Swim teaching and volunteer coaching at both Repton and Ashbourne SC, Katie is an exciting young coach who beings energy to the poolside. INTERNATIONAL SELECTION FOR REPTON SWIMMERS British Swimming has announced the 34-strong team selected to represent Great Britain at the 2023 European Junior Swimming Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. The annual competition showcases the best up-and-coming talent in Europe. Over the Easter weekend, 36 members of Repton Swimming travelled to Norwich to compete at the City of Norwich Level 1 Easter Long Course Meet. For many this meet was their first meet as part of a club trip, their first 3-day meet, and their first time in Norwich - all which adds new challenges and learning opportunities for our swimmers.
