What to Expect at a Leicester Sharks Swimming Trial:

Swimmers: During the 30-minute trial, you'll have the chance to showcase your swimming skills to our coach. Afterward, the coach will provide feedback and recommendations based on your performance. You'll also receive all relevant information on session times, equipment needed and cost.

Parents: Take this opportunity to ask our Leicester Sharks representative any questions you may have.

Do You Need a Certain Ability or Age to Apply for a Trial?

It's common for athletes to hesitate or feel nervous about applying for a trial because they worry they’re not good enough. Our advice is simple: why not give it a try? You have nothing to lose, and if you need more development, we can communicate this with your current swim teacher to help accelerate your progress.

Remember, every Olympic athlete, lifelong masters swimmer, budding triathlete, or university team captain started right where you are now. At Leicester Sharks, our focus is on LEARNING and DEVELOPING. No one is the finished article when they first join us—everyone is here to learn, have fun, and improve!

Age Groups and Ability Levels:

For peace of mind, our Pre Pups squads are typically for boys and girls aged 6-10 who are at Stage 5 and above in their local swimming lessons. If you’re not yet at Stage 5 but still wish to join, our Mini Sharks (Stages 1-4) are generally for children aged 4-8.

If you are older than the targeted age bands, does that mean I cannot apply?

If you’re older than these age groups, don’t worry—you can still apply! At Leicester Sharks, we recognise that everyone develops at their own pace. We offer a range of squads for enthusiastic swimmers of all ages. If we feel an older athlete might not enjoy a specific squad, we have contacts around the area to help find a more suitable fit.

The bottom line is, there’s NO DOWNSIDE to booking a free trial. We believe passionately that this great sport can bring so much to a child’s life. Book your free trial today, please remember to provide your child's name, age, and previous swimming experience.

Joining Leicester Sharks:

If your child decides to join the club and once payment has been received, you will receive Swim England Registration and a login for TeamUnify, our club management system.
