Welcome to the Youth Performance Squad at Leicester Sharks!

Our Youth Performance squad represents the pinnacle of competitive swimming at Leicester Sharks. This squad is designed for dedicated athletes aiming to achieve their highest potential, targeting East Midland regionals and national qualifications.


Squad Overview

The Youth Performance squad is committed to excellence, focusing on both the physiological and psychological aspects essential for success on race day. With structured training cycles running from September to July, our swimmers will prepare for target meets that align with their competitive goals.

Key Features:

  • Commitment & Consistency: Training is structured to instill a sense of dedication and reliability, ensuring that every swimmer can maximize their performance.
  • Aerobic Development: A strong emphasis is placed on aerobic conditioning, allowing swimmers to build endurance and stamina.
  • Race Pace Training: Swimmers will engage in specialised training focused on their primary events, enhancing their competitiveness.
  • Pre/Post-Pool Focus: Maximising athletic potential through tailored strength, mobility, and recovery routines.

Throughout the season, swimmers will experience various competitions and venues, gaining exposure to different competitive environments while participating in league galas when selected.


Training Timetable

  • Monday: 05:15 - 07:00 at Enderby Leisure Centre
  • Monday: 18:40 - 20:40 at Leicester Grammar School
  • Tuesday: 19:00 - 21:00 at Lutterworth Leisure Centre
  • Wednesday: 19:00 - 21:00 at Wigston Leisure Centre
  • Thursday: 18:40 - 20:40 at Leicester Grammar School
  • Friday: 19:00 - 21:00 at Lutterworth Leisure Centre
  • Saturday: 06:05 - 08:05 at Enderby Leisure Centre
  • Saturday: 08:20 - 09:10 Land-based sessions: Enderby Leisure Centre

Total Pool Hours: 13.75 hours across 7 sessions
