Silver Development Squad
Welcome to the Silver Development Squad, a key stepping stone in Leicester Sharks' competitive swimming pathway! Designed to help swimmers qualify for the Leicestershire County Championships, this squad focuses on advanced stroke techniques, new skills, and intensive training sessions that will challenge and push athletes to new heights.
Squad Overview:
The Silver Development Squad is perfect for swimmers looking to build on their foundation and compete at higher levels. Swimmers will learn:
- Advanced Drills: Focused on refining stroke techniques.
- New Skills: Including relay takeovers and Individual Medley (IM) turns.
- Pace Work & Intensity Training: To challenge swimmers and enhance performance across varying intensities.
- Aerobic Conditioning: Through an increased training schedule to further develop endurance and overall fitness.
With the opportunity to compete more frequently, the emphasis shifts towards process goals, helping swimmers focus on continuous improvement. Those who hit their qualifying times can compete in the Leicestershire County Championships and may also earn the chance to represent Leicester Sharks in one of our league teams.
Training Sessions
- Monday: 18:30 - 19:30 at Wigston Leisure Centre
- Tuesday: 18:40 - 20:40 at Leicester Grammar School
- Wednesday: 17:45 - 19:15 at Leicester Grammar School
- Thursday: 19:30 - 21:00 at Enderby Leisure Centre
Total Pool Hours: 6 hours across 4 sessions per week

To fully engage in training, athletes are required to have the following equipment:
- Kit Bag
- Drink Bottle
- Kickboard
- Pull Buoy
- Fins
- Finger Paddles
- 2 x Tennis Balls
- Snorkel
