On Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of December Bourne End swimmers took part in the Windsor SC L3 County Chaser, held at Braywick Leisure Centre in Maidenhead. There were plenty of PBs and Jessica R. earned a bronze medal in the 13YRS age group 100m backstroke. The camaraderie amongst the swimmers was wonderful. We also received the following feedback from Windsor SC today: It was great to have you with us. Even had complimentary comments from our volunteers re the well-behaved swimmers from Bourne End Well done swimmers - you've...
Hi, I'm Abby and I have recently achieved my Level 1 Swimming Teaching Assistant qualification. I have been at the club for about 15 years, and I started swimming lessons with BEJSC at Court Garden where I now help teach. The qualification, now with my NRASTC lifesaving qualification alongside it, allows me to support the younger swimmers in the water and teach them how to swim which I feel is really important considering how close we live to the river. ---------------------------------- Congratulations from everyone at Bourne End Swimming Club Abby!
The weekend of 25th and 26th September presented the first opportunity in a very long time for our swimmers to show off their swimming skills at a competitive meet. There were PBs galore – not just improvements to times from competitive meets two or more years ago, but improvements to times set at the Club Time Trials held in June of this year. This shows just how important it has been to get our swimmers training regularly again and is a testament to our swimmers’ resilience and hard work. Swimmers...
A very big well done to Alex, Jacob, Simon, and Caitlin who participated in the BBAT Distance Meet at Aqua Vale yesterday. Each of them put on a fine performance in the pool after such a long break from competitive swimming. We look forward to the BBAT Autumn Meet next weekend, where we will see many of our swimmers in action.
We are delighted to announce that Club Captains for the 21/22 season are Ruby Millard and Alex de Beer. Ruby joined BEJSC when she was 7 years old and Alex joined in 2016. Ruby's favourite stroke is backstroke and admits she is not a fan of butterfly. On the contrary, Alex's favourite stroke is butterfly and he is not as keen on breaststroke. Both are members of our C3 squad. Congratulations Ruby and Alex!
Super proud of two of our Masters swimmers for completing a 4 mile open water swim at the Henley Swim Festival today. Top job George and Alex!
We're very pleased to hear that one of our swimmers, Andrew Partridge, is part of the Modern Pentathlon Athlete Development programme and swimming with Bourne End has helped him progress. Here's Andrew's story so far - I have been a part of Bourne End for about 5 years now. I joined the club from a local learn to swim programme and was not considered a 'sporty' child, however the club has played a major part in changing my sporting career and opportunities. Alongside my swimming, I also joined a local...
