ONB County Championships 2024 - Report from Jenny Roberts Earlier this month 9 swimmers from Bourne End represented the club at the ONB County Championships at Aquavale in Aylesbury. For a lot of our swimmers, county championships are the highest level of competition that they will take part in, and they did themselves and the club proud! There were personal bests galore and fantastic team spirit from all involved. We had 5 top-eight finishes, 4 finalists and 15 personal bests over the two weekends. A great effort from a small...

CONGRATULATIONS Helen and Graham! They have both qualified as J2 Officials and have provided this insight to encourage others in the club to step up and get involved for the benefit of all swimmers. Why? The technical answer is that Officials are essential to run galas for swimmers to swim. If our Club doesn’t provide Officials for galas, we don’t get invited. And we were persuaded to do it. Honestly, you learn a lot about swimming, feel good about supporting young people’s ambitions and well-being and help to make the...
Swim meets only work because of the volunteers who train to be officials. Without the requisite number of officials, a meet cannot be licenced and our swimmers' times will not be recognised on national rankings. That means improvements in PB's cannot be traced and no entries to qualification events such as Counties :-( When my daughter, Ruby, started competing I decided I would much rather have a poolside view than be stuck in the gallery - and have to pay for that privilege. Like everyone I started as a timekeeper...

Hi, I’m Megan Over the last 3 months, I took part in the Diabetes UK Swim22 challenge by swimming 44 miles (the distance across the channel to France and back). I have been swimming about 6 hours a week in order to complete this challenge. It’s been very tiring with lots of ups and downs but on Sunday 18th June I completed the swim. So far I have raised over £2000 for this amazing charity. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped me through the event and to...
BEJSC masters secured a 1st and 2nd place at the monthly aquathon (swim/run) held at Westhorpe Lake, Little Marlow. The event compreised a 750m open water swim followed by a 5km run. A well attended event inlcuded BEJSC masters Hannah Darcy, Kate Cooke and Keiran Millard in the starting line up - which thankfully was at 7am on what was set to be a very hot day. Darcy and Keiran were neck and neck on the swim and despite Keiran being first out of transition, Hannah put on a blistering...
