19 swimmers will be competing for Southport Swimming Club at the British and English National Championships 2018. This is largest team the club have ever had going to the Championships at the end of July begining of August. This is a fantastic finale at the end of a long season for the swimmers that have qualified. Just before the start of the race, Club Coaches, Masters and Junior swimmers all ready to go. This being the premier swimming league in the Country. All the top teams teams throuout England take part on a regional basis in an attempt to make the National Finals. Southport have made the North West Premier League final in all but one in the last 10 years, finishing no higher than 6th. It is a very strong league with some of the top City clubs competing. The clubs A and B squad competed at the recently held City of Liverpool Spring Meet with the club coming out as top overall club. Some great swims by the squad swimmers which placed them on the National rankings to qualify for the National Summer Championships during the summer.

80 of Southports swimmers swam exceptional at the recently held County Championships at the Commonwealth Pool in Manchester. Numberous medals and top eight places were gained by the Southport Team and more important, even more Pbs. 17 Southport swimmers aged 11 – 14 yrs were named in the Liverpool and District Team to take on other associations From the Scottish boarder down the Pennines to the Midlands. The Southport contingent made up roughly a third of the team. The team can be selected from teams from Chester, Wirral, Warrington, St Helens Ormskirk and all the Liverpool Clubs. On the 1st October the top six clubs in the North of England competed at Tynemouth for a place in the National Junior League final in Corby on 26th November. Competing were City of Leeds, Stockport Metro, Lemington Spa, Tynemouth, Louth from Lincoln and Southport. City of Leeds got off to a strong start and crept away from the other clubs, with Louth a little behind. The middle ground was a strong battle between Stockport, Tynemouth, Lemington and Southport. Over the last two weekends (Sunday 10th and Saturday 16thth September) Southports young swimmers 9-12yrs competed well in the Tadpole League held at Everton Park. Here they compete in indivdual swims along with Team races. Some fantastic indivdual swims collecting numerous medals but most important most swims where in PB times. Not only did the club win the Top Overall Club for indivdual swims but also won the Top Overall Club team race trophy. Well done to all the swimmers who took part. Full set of results attached.
