The Swim England National Summer Meet took place from 29th July until 3rd August. Swimmers qualified for this meet based on their ranking from times achieved in a 50m pool during the qualifying window which ran from mid March to mid May. For most events, the top 24 swimmers were invited to the Aquatics GB Next Gen meet, then the next 24 to the Swim England meet but this varied. For example only 10 swimmers were invited to the 18 years 50m freestyle, but 24 were invited in the 15-17...
The end of season highlight for many of our Derby Excel swimmers was the Aquatics GB Next Gen Swimming Championships, held at Ponds Forge from 19th to 25th July 2025. To qualify for the Next Gen Championships, swimmers had to swim a time that ranked them in the top 24 in the event for the following age groups: 13/14 years, 15 years, 16 years, 17/18 years and 19/over. The time had to be set during the qualifying window which ran from early March until mid-May. This is a really challenging...
She's done it again! Our breaststroke Queen Imogen Clark has won the 50 breaststroke for the third year in a row at the Aquatics GB Next Generation Championships (previously known as British Nationals). Imogen dominated the race, leading throughout after a trademark superb start. She touched the wall first in 31.20 seconds. Well done Imogen and coach John Adye, job done!

Derby Excel hosted our last meet of the season last weekend, the Summer Sizzler, a long course level 3 meet featuring a skins event at the end of the morning session each day. It was a brilliant event, which ran smoothly throughout. Some of our Elite squads were there, tuning their preparations ahead of Nationals later in the month, but it was mainly for our younger swimmers to show what they could do in their end of season swims. It is with much sadness that we announced the sad passing of Peter (Pete) Marshall on the 15th June, Pete held the post of Treasurer at Belper Marlin from 2004 to 2018 before retiring from swimming to Devon. He was also very much involved with DASA and the initial running of Derventio Excel. His daughter Fran swam with Derventio for several years. We send our sincere condolences to his wife Ann, and children Matt, Francis, Erin and Ryan
Some Derby Excel swimmers were in action today at the Repton Sprint meet, gaining valuable racing skills at the sprint events. The Derby Excel Club Championships took place on Saturday 14th June at Moorways - and what a fantastic event it was. We had nearly 100 competitors aged from 8 years up to Masters swimmers, racing from 25m events to 200m freestyle over a frenetic few hours! Swimmers were divided into teams - red, blue, yellow and green - so were racing for their team as well as themselves. Congratulations to all our young swimmers who competed over the 3 rounds of the Diddy League (or to give it its full title the 'Notts and Derbyshire Junior Swimming League'. The third round took place on 7th June, with Derby Excel competing in gala 2 at Hucknall. We were up against Carlton Forum, Hucknall, Sutton, Dronfield and Chesterfield. Derby Excel took the win with 166 points, an excellent result - with Sutton in second place on 150 points, Hucknall third on 131, joing 4th on 126 were Dronfield and Chesterfield,...
Some of our Derby Excel swimmers attended the Nottingham Northern Swimming Club meet at Harvey Haddon Leisure Centre in Nottingham, and did themselves proud. We finished as the second placed visiting club on 327 points, ahead of Ripley Rascals, Nottingham Leander and Arnold. 10 year old Edie Geis-McCormick was the second placed female swimmer finishing just one point behind the winner from Satellite.
