The second weekend of the long course County Championships saw Derby Excel swimmers once again competing against their peers from around Derbyshire, at our home pool Moorways. Between them, our swimmers won a total of 72 medals over this weekend (31 gold, 24 silver, 17 bronze) – huge congratulations to you all. With the 55 medals won last weekend, this takes Derby Excel's total medal total to 127 medals, what...

There were some outstanding swims, with our swimmers winning 55 medals over the...

Derby Excel host three Level 1 meets every Spring at the best pool in the country, Ponds Forge in Sheffield. We hosted our latest meet there last weekend, over 2 days, with some very high quality swimmers in attendance from all over the country. It was the first long course meet of the season for almost everyone there, and a good way to get some early season racing for the swimmers. We were delighted to see current world record holder Daniel Wiffen there, swimming the 1500m freestyle. Also there was...

We have a new initiative at Derby Excel - the Club Help Desk. This was set up in the reception area at Moorways yesterday evening between 6 and 8pm, manned by members of the Derby Excel Committee. The purpose is to give club members the opportunity to speak to the committee about any queries, and to try on/purchase club kit including swimming hats and bobble hats. Thank you to club secretary Pippa Hibbs and membership secretary Caitlin Lewis for attending on Wedneday. We also hope it will raise awareness of...
