Derby Excel's Imogen Clark was filmed by Pullbuoy (@pullbuoy) in the lead up to the Olympic Trials, and the finished film has just been released: https://youtu.be/zD04N-z5H7g It features Imi at training, plus interviews with her, Director of Swimming John Adye, and her partner Erin. It's a great film, showing just how much hard work and dedication goes into training at an elite level, especially as Imi is not funded and also works full time. Well done to all involved in making this brilliant and insightful film.

42 of our swimmers have been competing at the East Midlands Regional Championships. These took place over 2 weekends (one of which was the Bank Holiday weekend) so comprised 5 days of competition. The first weekend was at Corby – previously this has been just for junior swimmers, but this year was for all age groups. The second weekend was at our home pool Moorways, again for all ages. Clubs from all over the Region were there in numbers, including the likes of Loughborough University, Nova Centurion, Northampton, City of...

We are very grateful to Lesley Harris, who has nominated Derby Excel to receive a sizable charity donation from her employer Lloyds Bank. Lloyds and many other companies run match funding schemes, whereby the company will donate money to charities as a recognition of fundraising and volunteering by their staff. Lesley has helped raise money for Derby Excel by running the raffle at our Open meet, and was able to claim £500 for Derby Excel as a result. Because she also volunteers with us, this was recognised with a further...

Well done to all our swimmers who participated in the Derbys/Notts Junior Swim League at Hucknall. We finished in third place, with some great racing on the night. Here is a report from coach David Pratt: Hello, here's a quick report on the Diddy League round 1 of 3, held on Saturday, 20th April. First off, I want to congratulate and thank all the swimmers who took part. It was a joy to see the enthusiasm and excitement on the faces of several first-time racers. Overall, we finished in third...

The Cerebral Palsy Sport National Swimming Championships 2024 were held at Alfreton Leisure Centre last weekend, and was a fantastic event attended by swimmers from all over the country. Swimmers aged 10 years/over are eligible to compete if they have a diagnosis of non-progressive brain damage with motor control dysfunction such as cerebral palsy, traumatic brain inuury, stroke or similar conditions. Swimming is such a brilliant sport for anyone with these conditions, giving them a chance to strengthen their muscles and improve their fitness, as well as the social and...
