The following 21...
Our younger swimmers competed at the Diddy League R2 last Saturday at Bramcote. We were up against Worksop, CABSC, Nottm Leander, Bramcote and Derby Phoenix. Some feedback from coach David Pratt: I hope you all enjoyed the Junior League Gala last Saturday! It was great to see the swimmers competing and getting to know each other as a team. Unfortunately, we could not compete in four events due to having just one 9-year-old boy. However, I entered a team of three girls and one boy in the relays for their...
Derby Excel hosted another level 1 meet in the National Qualifying window on 10th/11th May. This one was at Moorways, and gave swimmers a final opportunity to post times in the events they hope to swim at British and English Nationals in at the end of July/early August. It was the first time we've held this meet, and there were swimmers there from over 110 clubs in all - which is very unusual as mostly meets have 15 or so large club entries, but this meet attracted many individuals who...
East Midlands Regional Long Course Championships were held between 26th April and 5th May 2025 at Moorways in Derby and Corby, Leicestershire. We had 47 qualifiers for this event, which saw swimmers from all over the E Midlands compete against each other in a heat/final format. The results are here: https://www.emswimchamps.org.uk/Events/RegionalLongCourseChampionships2025/webpages/index Event rankings can be found here: https://www.swimmingresults.org/12months/ There were too many excellent results to mention them all, but special mention to: Eden Saint (14) had a clean sweep of the breaststroke events, winning GOLD in 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke...
The Aquatics GB Swimming Championships 2025 took place at the Olympic Park (venue of the 2012 Olympics swimming events) 15-20th April. Derby Excel had 7 swimmers taking part. It’s always a great event, with the country’s best swimmers competing for selection to the World Championships in Singapore in the summer. Our swimmers raced against Olympic and World Champions, and there was a fantastic atmosphere at the event. Georgie Pryor (27) made two ‘A’ finals. She was 7th in the 50m backstroke, swimming 29.52s in the heat, then 29.23 in the...

Some of our younger swimmers competed on Saturday in the first round of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior Swimming League (affectionately known as the Diddy League), held at Water Meadows in Mansfield. The next 2 rounds are in May and June. Please see comment below from coach David Pratt: Thank you for allowing your swimmers to participate; I hope everyone enjoyed the event. Finishing in second place is a fabulous achievement, especially considering that we had only one 9-year-old boy, which prevented us from competing in four events, along with...
On Saturday 15th March, a group of our swimmers competed in the third and final round of the Derwent League at Alfreton Leisure Centre. It was a fantastic night of competition, with the team finishing in 4th place overall. Congratulations to you all, and many thanks to coach David Pratt for selecting, coaching supporting the team over all 3 rounds. Thank you to the officials and team managers. Congratulations to Dronfield Dolphins who won all 3 rounds.

Swim England have produced a resource for swimmers regarding periods: https://www.swimming.org/justswim/menstrual-cycle-information-for-aquatic-participants/ We will put the link on our website as well. As a club and committee, we are keen to normalise the conversations around periods, and hope this information will help.
