What does a Team Manager do?
Team Managers are an essential part of a club’s event team. They are responsible for keeping all team members safe at swim meets and camps. They may be involved in the organisation and logistics of team events such as our own meets, meets at other clubs and training/competition camps both locally and overnight.
What will you gain from the experience?
This is a fundamental, and highly influential role which requires the individual to take on a certain level of responsibility to the team members. Your success and impact on the club will be determined by your own motivations and enthusiasms. As well as your ability to coordinate and manage teams during competitions and camps, it is an opportunity to take on a new challenge and facilitate the performance of the club and its athletes.
Who are we looking for?
- Enthusiastic and be able to build a good knowledge of the club and its athletes.
- An excellent communicator, with the ability to communicate to a range of individuals including; swimmers, parents, coaches and event staff.
- Willing to gain an understanding of competitions requirements to ensure athletes are prepared and ready to compete.
- Be able to relay information in a concise manner and make quick decisions based upon the best interests of individuals and teams.
- Be able to remain calm in difficult and changing situations.
- Be able to remain impartial to all individuals, treat everyone fairly and equally, and ensure everyone is included and looked after
- Have an understanding of Swim England and CoStA’s safeguarding policies and processes including Wavepower.
- Have an understanding of IT including use of word processing, databases and spreadsheets.
- Hold an up-to-date Barred List Check and/or Enhanced DBS check and have completed approved training.
- Completed Swim England’s Team Manager 1 training (for local and one day events) and Team Manager 2 training (for overnight stays)
