Kent Junior Meet On the weekend of 26th and 27th October the club travelled to Medway Park Leisure Centre in Gillingham for this year’s Kent Junior Meet. This gala has been specifically designed by the county for emerging swimmers. Swimmers who win their event received a county medal. This year we had forty-four swimmers entered in the competition, with all of them having a great weekend. Orpington Ojays is proud to announce the appointment of Ross Hunter as the new head coach. Ross brings a wealth of experience and success from his previous position as assistant head coach at Mid Sussex Marlins, where he played a pivotal role in developing swimmers and preparing them for county, regional and national competitions. This morning we said goodbye to our head coach Joe Gaster. Joe has been involved with the club for a long time, first as a swimmer, then a squad coach and in 2021 he became our head coach. Joe has had a great impact on the club during his time as head coach. We are sure all our members will join us in wishing him the all the best in his new career! Though he does assure us he will definitely wants stay involved in the club going forward.
National Arena League Round One On Saturday 12th October our team of thirty-two swimmers headed to Burgess Hill for the first round of this year’s league. It was a great night of fast and furious racing, with the team finishing the night in third place. Kent Junior League Final Round On Saturday 21st September our team of thirty-two swimmers headed to the Kent coast and Dover for the final round of this year’s league. We welcomed some new swimmers to the team for the final round and a great night of racing was had by all. Bexley Summer Sizzler 13th & 14th July Our last open gala of the season saw sixty-four swimmers head to Crook Log for Bexley SC’s Summer Sizzler. What a fantastic couple of days they all had too, bringing home an astonishing 106 medals! Tadpoles Summer Splash New Addington was once again the venue for our first Tadpoles gala of the year on June 9th. Fifty-six of our future stars took to the pool competing in all 4 strokes over 25m and 50m breaststroke, backstroke and freestyle.
